The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center (NCECDMC) discusses developments in the Asaba fires with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center (NCECDMC) held a technical meeting via videoconference, bringing together the center’s technical team and the WMO representative, Mr. Cyrillic Honore, Director of Disaster Risk Reduction and Early Warning. The meeting was held in coordination with the Libyan Mission in Geneva and the United Nations Regional Office for Disaster Reduction.

The meeting reviewed the most important developments related to the fires. The technical team presented a video presentation on the scientific reasons for the outbreak of this phenomenon, its environmental and economic impacts, and practical proposals for mitigating its risks.

The attendees emphasized the importance of continued coordination and information exchange in the coming period, and the need to strengthen local and international cooperation to develop effective strategies for dealing with emergency natural phenomena.
